This and other items we now have listed have been purchased at the recent rural Kansas estate auction. This listing:

1 1/4 inch in diameter
shank  style
textured swirl design
I believe that these are hard plastic and not Bakelite
cherry red in color
I have not cleaned in any way
great to use as was intended or for sewing and craft projects
surely dates from the early to mid 1900s
appears to have been stored for years
