Vintage AMT 1957 Ford Thunderbird 1962 Release T2257-200 Built NICELY

Purchased a collection from a mid-century automotive Corporate executive’s estate, this is a FIRST issue glue together model of the 1957 Ford Thunderbird released by AMT Corp. Their factory molded white plastic model kit was first released in 1962, behind their original plastic body flywheel drive promo with a metal chassis in 1957, and the Jr Craftsman snap together kit from 1959-’60. AMT, who was under contact with FOMOCO to produce their dealership vehicle replicas at the time, did a great job once the plastic was upgraded due to warpage. This car is beautifully built and actually fitted great in a dealer promo collection. This car has the chrome engine as that first ’62 glue kit of this car had. Knowing enough of the original ’57 promo’s history and how the interior paint from the factory looked, this was a nice build. The interior is excellently done. The hood is glued down and it and the fender skirts were painted together. Even though slightly lighter than the body, it presents very well. Actually, this car is beautiful. Knowing this collection I bought most of… which began over 70 years ago…it was displayed untouched as the late owner was adding promos to his collection throughout his career. I really believe this model was never a toy for some little kid. The chrome is FLAWLESS. Just an overall great build. The body and glass are perfect. The discovery was the chrome windshield frame. The promos and Jr Craftsman snap kit had molded frames to the body. The box is correct for the car, but there are no custom parts, or instructions. This collector was into the showroom look and this build , by far, exceeds the original ’57 warping dealer promo. This car is priced very fairly with free continental USA shipping. It had a life in a non smoker home and still does, so no odors. Pics are taken close up to concrete the condition, therefore,
